On Saturday night I settled down to watch Phantom of the Opera on "Svengoolie". I enjoy this movie and I first saw it when I was just a kid.I have watched it many times since and still enjoy it. This time I enjoyed it even more because I know Puff likes Opera singing and he watched it with me. He is so funny to watch when he is listening to opera. He settles down and closes his eyes as he listens and when the ladies stop singing, he opens his eyes as if to say "why did you stop?"He only likes it when the ladies sing. He totally ignores the men singing.He sat on my shoulder through the entire film,although he did sleep through the last 20 minutes of it.Lilo could care less about opera but she does like it when I sing to her. But an opera singer I am not!I just love my Dragons. Puff and Lilo, the Golden Dragons,to be continued...............

A little late but Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Christmas was good this year but very busy.I decorated the Dragons' Lairs with lots of Christmas stickers and Puff and Lilo had a good Christmas.All the animals had a real good Christmas with lots of gifts. New Years was quiet as I stayed home and watched TV.Puff and Lilo are starting to sleep more again as the weather has cooled off.They mostly sleep all day and wake in time for dinner but there were a few days that they slept through dinner and when they did wake, they were ravenous.They are eating pretty good most days now.They have both been shedding a lot, but they both look quite beautiful right now. Puff is still watching Lilo but she is not acknowledging Him

I have seen Puff watching Lilo sleep. He will sit and stare at her for hours. She just sleeps,or pretends to sleep and refuses to acknowledge him. I wonder if her "female" hormones are at a low level. Maybe that is why she does not lay her infertile eggs and just reabsorbs them. She has never been bred and I think she may have always been sterile.But I will never know for sure as she is past breeding age. Of course so is Puff,past breeding age. I do not want to bring baby dragons into an already over populated reptile world. I would not want any of them to end up unwanted and homeless. There are so many reptiles advertised on Craigslist that people don't want any more.It is sad that People buy these animals and don't really know how to care for them properly,and then dump them when they have lost interest in them.Bearded Dragons are a lot easier to care for than some other reptiles but they still need the proper diet and lighting and temperature grading.They need proper housing and most importantly, they need proper vet care if they become sick or injured. They also need human companionship. They are capable of showing affection to their caretakers.I know this for a fact as both my dragons have cuddled up to me and nuzzled my face and neck,when I am petting them or singing to them.They seem to understand when I tell them they are loved and they do respond to my voice.When I put my hand into the tank,they will climb right up so I can hold them. My dragons love to be held and petted and talked to,and they love for me to sing to them.I don't know if other lizards are like this because I have never had any other kind of lizard. Bearded Dragons are very sociable creatures. Even when I had my snakes, I had some that liked to be held and had a Black Racer that would sit up to get his chin scratched. Reptiles make wonderful pets, but you must be willing to spend the time caring for them and they must be cared for properly.Any pet for that matter must be cared for properly and have human companionship. Kindness goes a long way with animals.I see it every day with the dogs and other animals I have rescued.Puff and Lilo,The Golden Dragons,to be continued............

Scary Moment - Puff's infra red heat bulb exploded !

Last night I finished feeding Puff and had taken him out of the feeding container. I was holding him and singing to him when all of a sudden the infra red light that hangs above the feeding container / "dining room" exploded!It made a loud noise and there was glass every where.Some very tiny shards were in the dog's water bowl,on the floor around Puff's tank and larger shards in the feeding container/dining room.I was about 2 feet away from it when this happened. If Puff was still in the "dining room"and I was still feeding him,he could have been killed!! I would certainly have had glass embedded in my face as I sit right next to the container when feeding him.I think God was looking out for us both!I have never had this happen before but Carla said that she has had it happen to her with a regular light bulb once. I took the exploded bulb back to Petsmart and they replaced it.The manager said that the filament was not affected and it was just the glass that must have had a defect in it. I also called the Exo-Terra company and told them what had happened.These bulbs are made in China.I hope that this never happens to any one else as it was quite scary.Poor Puff did not get his bath last night as it took some time to clean all the glass up and replace the dog's water after cleaning the bowl and sweeping up what was all over the floor. I did mist him and he does enjoy this. I will give him extra time to soak in his bath tonight. Both Lilo and Puff are doing great. They are eating well even though they are Brumating. They seem to wake up for dinner every night.Lilo is sleeping more than Puff. This year he seems to be a little more active although he does sleep all afternoon. They are now eating Mustard and Collard greens rather than just the Bokchoy. They both love the baby food veggies. Lilo gently licks the vegies off of a spoon and Puff attacks the spoon and the veggies.I seem to be able to get them to eat new things by just putting the baby food on the new food. I stumbled on a great web site for bearded dragons. Beautiful Dragons Reptile Rescue. Here is the link http://beautifuldragons.com/ The page on nutrition is very good. The pages on there rescues is wonderful. I will definitely keep this one and check it often.Puff and Lilo are doing well. Basking in the morning,long naps in the after noon.They are both eating well.Perhaps, after Brumation ends, I will get to see more of Lilo's personality. She is a very sweet dragon. Puff still observes her on the sly. She has not acknowledged him at all.I hope some day they will be friends? Puff and Lilo, The Golden Dragons, to be continued.

I moved the Christmas log out of Puff's tank as he was starting to have some trouble climbing on to it. Being an older Dragon,his leg muscles are starting to loose some of their strength. He has fallen off of this log several times and landed upside down. So far he has been able to right himself but I am concerned that he might be caught in a way, between the branches, and not be able to right him self. Dragons can suffocate if they are left or held on their backs too long.Any way I took it out and replaced it with a rock that can double as a basking rock or a small hide. He can get to his waterfall by climbing up on this rock. He has also already discovered that if he digs in,he can some what hide him self.If his tail or head sticks out,he can still get some UVB light.I also placed another log next to the rock that he can also climb on and get to the waterfall.This one has no branches. I gave the Christmas log to Lilo. She has discovered it and has been basking on it all morning. I discovered this morning that Puff has been climbing up and down to the water fall. I watched him for a while and he would get up into the water and would sit there and watch Lilo as she was basking on the Christmas log in her tank. From time to time,she would open an eye and catch Puff watching her. She would reposition herself on the log and would stare at him. Puff would then climb down and go to the other side of his tank and then look back to see if Lilo was still watching him. Them he would climb back up into the waterfall and watch her again. If she opened an eye to watch him,he would then leave again. This procedure was repeated several times until Puff decided to take a nap on his basking log. That is where he is now.I think they are starting to acknowledge each other. Puff and Lilo, the Golden Dragons,to be continued...................

Happy Birthday Puff and Lilo

Dinner was a success. Roast chicken ,sweet potatoes, white potatoes for Carla(as she does not like sweet potatoes)onions and asparagus.The birthday cake and ice cream was yummy! Too bad Dragons can't eat all this stuff,but the humans enjoyed it.Both Dragons pretty much slept through the festivities. It's Brumation time....... I think next year I will have the party in the morning. Have a "Brunch" instead of a dinner party. The Dragons seem to be awake more at that time of the day. The only gift they really acknowledged was the apple that Johnny brought them.They could smell that it was food. I was disappointed about the new light fixture as none of my current bulbs fit in it. I returned it to Petsmart and got a different one.Puff is now 11 years old!This makes me happy that he is still living a happy,healthy life,but it also saddens me as I know he is getting older and I don't know how much time he has left. Dr. Jarchow knows of one Bearded Dragon who lived 17 years. I hope Puff will live that long. I will do every thing I can to see that he has that chance. Lilo is 8 years old and already she has endeared herself to me,in the short time I have had her. I hope she will have a long,happy and healthy life also. By the way, They still are not acknowledging each other.......I did not get their tanks decorated for the party as I got side tracked and then didn't have time. I have now decorated them with a Halloween theme.It looks cute! I did not put as many pumpkins on this year as it was hard to get them off last year,with out leaving a sticky mess. I left the "Love is a Bearded Dragon" on Puff's tank and added to Lilo's tank,"love is 2 Bearded Dragons" on one side and Pumpkins and candy corn and Bats on the the side.They both enjoyed some sweet potato and some apple with their crickets for their Birthday dinner, which they did wake up for.We took pictures and I will get them on the blog as soon as I can.I love my Dragons!!!! Getting ready for Puff's and Lilo's Birthday party

I hope Carla will remember to bring her camera so we can take pictures at the party. I am decorating their tanks with a Halloween theme.Lilo has been checking out her new house.She has been on top of and inside of both hides and she has spent time sitting in her water dish. She also has a flat river rock like Puff's to bask on. She has a log to bask on also.She is becoming more active now that she has a bigger house. She is eating very well. I had to peal the defrosted frozen peas for her and stick them in the side of her mouth, but she did eat them. I am hoping that she will realize that they are just as good as the baby food peas. I did get her to eat some Parsley and some Bokchoy, after putting some baby food green beans on the leaves.She really likes the baby food peas and green beans. She licks it right off a spoon. I got a tank for Lilo

I got a 40 gal. tank for Lilo. It cost $55 delivered. Not bad considering how much they cost brand new! It is in excellent condition for a used tank, very clean. I could have had a free 100 gal. for Puff but there is no way it would have fit in the small space I have. If I just had Puff, it would have fit but I needed space for two tanks and the 100 gal. would have taken up the whole space I had.Yesterday, I went to Petsmart and got most of the stuff I needed for Lilo. I took Puff with me. He so enjoys these little outings. It was rather cold as the weather has changed.I had him all cuddled up in a towel and he he loved it.I have decided to celebrate Lilo's Birthday on the same day as Puff's. I don't know the real birthday for either one. Since I got Lilo so close to the day I got Puff,I decided they could share Birthdays.That will make it more fun. I got their Birthday presents yesterday. New light fixtures for the top of their tanks. The old ones,while they work,are kind of dented and scratched and they don't look nice.The new ones are a little smaller so they fit better,leaving more room for the UVB lights.They still use the same wattage light bulbs. I am going to pick up their Birthday cake to day. We are having a party for both Dragons on Saturday. Dinner, cake and ice cream. Too bad that Dragons can't eat cake and ice cream but it will still be fun watching them interact and they will be fed something special for the occasion. Her name is Lilo

The new Dragon's name is Lilo. She is settling in very well. Puff and Lilo have seen each other now but only through the glass of the tank. They have totally ignored each other. Each refuses to acknowledge the other. Some time in the future,I will introduce them face to face in a controlled situation and on neutral ground. She is eating well. Tonight she ate 7 crickets and she loved the baby food peas. Puff is starting to slow down on eating. He is also starting to sleep more now.He is still active in the morning though.I bought a T shirt at the Reptile show that has 2 Bearded Dragons on it. They are both orange,just like my 2 Dragons. I love my Dragons!!! I guess I will have to change the name of this blog to the Golden Dragons because now there are 2 of them. to be continued...........

Puff's girl friend has arrived and WOW !!!!!

On Monday,Carla took me up to the vets office to pick up the female Bearded Dragon that Dr. Jarchow gave me. WOW, is she gorgeous! She is Orange like Puff but she is darker than he is. She is a little smaller than Puff is also. There is some discrepancy as to what her name is, so until I find out for sure, she will just be known as "Pretty Girl". She is also a special needs dragon.I have been filled in on what to look for if she should have any more medical problems.She will have frequent vet checks just as Puff does, as she is 8 years old. I wonder what Puff will think of her when I introduce them to each other? I will let her settle in first. I have discovered that she does not like Bok Choy or summer squash,but she sure did like the crickets and the baby food apple sauce. I will have to go shopping tomorrow to get some thing that she likes. I will try to get some pictures as soon as I can.I now have 2 Dragons! Puff the Golden Dragon,to be continued............

The Reptile show was great !

I went to the Reptile show on Saturday and it was great. I saw lots of Beardies,mostly hatchlings but a few juveniles and some adults.I saw some beautiful color morphs. I saw a Sail Fin Dragon and several Frilled Dragons. Some day I would really like to have a Frilled Dragon.I used my guide dog Shaman this time. He was very distracted,but not by the animals. It was like he was looking for some one. He has never been like this before. After a few hours at the show, he seemed to settle down and did much better.Last year I did not use my dog,just used my white cane.I saw another Asian Green,red tailed Rat snake,like the one I used to have. I saw many beautiful snakes and lizards. Tegus,various types of Iguanas, Monitors, Geckos,Uromastics and many others. I took lots of business cards. Some time in the future, I will get more Bearded Dragons and possibly a Frilled Dragon.Yes, some time in the future...... I still think that Puff will always be my favorite Dragon. After all, he is my first and he is very special and very Precious to me. That being said, I am still looking forward to getting Puff's girl friend. I got offered a girl friend for Puff

Puff's vet appointment went well. His blood work is good and he is in good health and good shape for his age.Dr. Jarchow said I was taking great care of Puff and he offered me a female that is older,like 8years old. She belonged to some one who asked Dr. Jarchow to find her a good home. If I can find a tank for her, not too expensive, I may take her. She is the same color as Puff. I hope I can find a tank soon! I got injured and ended up in the Hospital

I injured my leg and it got an infection in it. I ended up in the Hospital and Carla and Johnny had to take care of all the animals. The first night Puff did eat for Johnny but the second night he would not eat. I came home and he did eat for me.Of course, Johnny and Carla did not sing to him. I can always get him to eat for me if I sing to him. I think he really did miss me as he got so excited when he saw me. I hope I never have to go through that again. I really worry about all my animals when I am not there to take care of them. I know that Carla and Johnny are capable of caring for them but I miss them and they miss me.Puff the Golden Dragon,to be continued.................

The Reptile show is next weekend

I will be going to the reptile show this year again. I really enjoyed it last year.I can't wait to see the Bearded Dragons and all the other reptiles and amphibians.Puff is going to the vet for his check up on next Tuesday.He is already going into Brumation. He is not as active as he has been all summer. He is sleeping more now but he is still eating every day and he is eating a lot. He seems to be very healthy,but I want to make sure as he is elderly for a Bearded Dragon. I have checked all over the internet and there is no care information for elderly Beardies. I guess I will just keep feeding the way I am as it seems to be keeping Puff healthy. Puff's Birthday is coming up next month. I will have had him for 2 years come October 8th.I hope it will be many more years as I really love him so much.Puff the Golden Dragon, to be continued..............

Puff's vet appointment went very well

I knew that Puff's eyesight was not so good any more,and I was right.The vet discovered that Puff has cataracts.But every thing else was good. Dr. Jarchow said that whatever I am doing for Puff's care and feeding was working and he was in excellent health for his age.He wants to see him again in September before he goes into Brumation. He will do blood work to make sure he is fine then.I am so glad that Puff is doing so well. I will keep doing every thing I have been doing to keep him healthy.I am hoping that he has several years left in his life. I love Puff so much and I don't mind taking the time it takes to feed him and make sure he has a bath after each meal.And take him for sun walks. I will do every thing I can to make sure he will live a long and healthy life. Puff the Golden Dragon, to be continued.................

Puff has a vet appointment for a check up

On June 29th, Puff will be going to the vet for his check up. I decided to get this done a little early now that I know his real age. I want to make sure he is doing well for his advanced age.He has been eating very well and I have discovered that he likes Gerber baby food organic carrots.By giving him this, he is getting more liquid than when I give him water as he does not always swallow the water. He eats the carrots because he likes them.He is eating a lot more greens now also. He is also eating more crickets because he does not have to catch them. I just stick them in the side of his mouth and he chews them up and swallows them. This makes eating a lot more easy for him.I don't think he is totally blind as he does look at me when I talk to him or sing to him, but he definitely has severe depth perception issues.There is no point in letting him get frustrated when he misses a cricket. I also let him soak in warm water after his meal.This way he can absorb water through his skin. He seems to be more active in the morning when I do this. He will still sleep most of the after noon and then wake up to be fed.He has also been sitting in his water fall almost every morning.I am still taking him for his sun walk every afternoon.I have to wake him for this but he really does enjoy it.Then he will go back to napping when I bring him back in the house.I really hope he is doing as well as he appears to be. I love this little dragon so much and would be hart broken if he is not as healthy as he appears to be. I don't want to think about this as a possibility, but I know he won't live for ever.I just hope he will live as long as some of the other Beardies have. I have heard that one has lived to the ripe old age of 16.I can only hope that he will make it to that age if I take really good care of him. Puff,I love you! A few words from Puff on the rally

Hi all you guys out in cybeland, My mom took me to a Reptile Rally this weekend. Of course it was at the time when I am usually napping so I slept through most of it.I did open my eyes every now and then to see the other dragons and the Big Monitor! I almost missed the python as I got sleepy and closed my eyes again. I really spent most of the afternoon just chillin' out on mom's shoulder.They took pictures of us.Of course mom had to brag about me and she just had to tell every one that she sings to me,but,I really do enjoy it when she sings to me.It was a fun day,and mom bought me some crickets and a few supplies that were needed.When I got home,I took another nap and woke up just in time to eat some of the new crickets. YUM! Mom gave me some collard greens and I ate some of it but I really prefer the bok choy. well, I've got to go now 'cause it's time to eat again. The Reptile Rally

We went to the reptile rally at Petco this weekend.There were 4 bearded dragons including Puff. There was a nice young dragon named Zippy that was a very similar color to Puff. There was a very light yellow one that was very pretty,and a normal colored one that was quite nice.Then this guy showed up toward the end with a beautiful Monitor lizard. Zippy won the beauty contest,but Puff was second.There was also a young lady that had a very nice Ball Python.We all talked about our animals and Gabby, the lady in charge took pictures of all of them. I found out that Puff is a lot older that I thought. The guy with Monitor said he looked to be at least 10 years old! I guess the people who turned him into the rescue were not honest about his true age.I would have adopted any way as it was love at first sight, but there were things I would have done differently to keep him healthy,if I had known his true age. I will start doing things a little differently now that I know.I am going to schedule a vet visit for him, sooner than the 6 months I had planed for.I want to find out what I can do to keep him as healthy as possible at his age.I enjoyed the rally and will attend the next one that they have. Long time no post !

I have not posted in some time as I have been very busy. Puff is doing well. He is usually awake by 8:00 am. He is eating well and has been active most mornings. About noon, he usually takes a nap. He wakes in time for feeding.I think his eye sight is getting worse as when he ties to get the crickets,he misses them. I have been placing the food in the side of his mouth and he eats much more easily.This takes longer but at least he is eating well.I have been taking him for sun walks as he really enjoys this.I have been bathing him more often as the vet said he will absorb water through his skin.I do give him water with the pipette,but he does not always swallow it.He really needs to drink more water.I have taken him to Petsmart and Petco several times now. People seem to think he is not real as they approach me and ask"is that alive?" He just sits on my shoulder and chills out. I think Puff enjoys these outings. Next month,Petco is having a Reptile Rally. There will be a Bearded Dragon meet and greet and a reptile beauty contest among other events. I am going to take Puff. I would enjoy meeting other Beardie keepers.I am not sure that Puff would enjoy meeting other Beardies but we shall see.Any way it sounds like fun. Puff enjoys opera singing !

It has been so warm that I have been taking Puff out for sun walks. He greatly enjoys this. He has been eating well and is becoming more active now that the weather has changed.I have been singing to Puff a lot and he really enjoys this also.If he is sleeping and I want to wake him, all I have to do is sing to him. He will open his eyes and look up at me.Some times he will come up to the glass side of his tank and try to climb up to me. I just put my hand in and he climbs right up on my hand.I have discovered that Puff likes opera singing.The other day, there was a woman on the TV singing opera and Puff looked up and went to the corner of his tank , by the waterfall and climbed up to watch and listen to the woman who was singing. When she stopped singing,Puff climbed down and went over to his basking log,climbed up on it and went to sleep.Singing seems excite him as his breaths are more visible,he looks up and looks around for the source of the singing. Puff is amazingly cute !

Yesterday,as I passed Puff's tank,I saw him standing straight up on his hind legs with his front feet on the glass. He was watching me as I would go back and forth in front of his tank.His head would move in whatever direction I was moving. I just couldn't hold back a chuckle. He looked so cute.He stayed that way for about 15 minutes.Only when I got his dinner ready did he get down on all fours and come over to me to be fed. I got him to eat some Bokchoy and he ate 3 crickets.I had let him out earlier on my bed to explore,but he really did not move around to much. Instead he climbed up on me and went to sleep while I was watching TV.
Carla came and took pictures of Puff on Valentine's Day. I had his tank decorated and it was real cute.Puff is such a sweet dragon.I just love him. Puff The Golden Dragon,to be continued...................

Puff is doing better

Puff is eating and pooping regularly now.I have discovered that he likes acorn squash.He is still a pretty picky eater.I finally got the batteries for the vibrating dish, so he has been eating a lot of peas.He has been playing with the Christmas ball. He head butts it and watches it swing back and forth. He has also been in the waterfall, but he doesn't stay in the water long as it is too cold.He prefers to have his bath in his tub with warm water.Yesterday,I saw Puff sitting with his arm around the egg and it was so cute! I really wish I had a camera.That would have made a wonderful picture.It was warm enough today to take Puff for a sun walk. He really enjoyed that.He is shedding the skin on his back again.He has been very active today and yesterday,climbing up on his log and leaping off.I have been singing a new song to him."Where have all the flowers gone",an old folk song and he seems to really enjoy that song. It is also one of my favorites.I used to sing it when I played my guitar many years ago.Well it is time to shut off Puff's lights so he can go to sleep. I got Puff to eat some bokchoy and carrot

I got Puff to eat some bokchoy and some carrot. I had to stick it in the side of his mouth and he did eat it. He hates it when I do this but he will not eat this stuff with out my doing this. I also hate doing that to him.I feel like I am torturing him. I just can't get him to eat greens any other way except peas. He will eat the peas from his vibrating dish but not the bokchoy or carrots or any other green things. I have stopped giving him the melon that he loves as this was giving him an elevated potassium level.He has eaten some sweet potato and some squash on his own but those are not GREENS.Maybe he does not like the color green???He has still not pooped.....He is eating crickets and yesterday he ate 4 of them. Today he has slept all day so I guess he is not going to eat today.I got him to actually drink water yesterday when he was soaking in his bath.I found the pipette undamaged and washed it and put it away where the cats can't get it this time.The weather is cooler today so I guess that is why Puff has slept all day. He did move into a different position but has shown no interest in waking up. I miss him when he sleeps the days away during the winter. I guess I will just have to wait until Spring for him to become active again.I finally got around to hanging the Christmas ball in his tank,but again it may be Spring before he discovers it.He has also shown no interest in his waterfall.He has not discovered the "Dragon egg"that Nick gave him for Christmas either.I hope I don't have to wait till Spring for him to poop!It has been 21 days since he had the first enema and that was the last time he pooped.I don't remember him not pooping for so long last winter. Back to the Vet again

Back to the vet again!This time Puff had blood work done. He had been eating but not Pooping so the Vet suggested the blood tests.As we waited for the results,Puff suffered the indignity of another enema.Poor Puff! After all that, he still hasn't pooped. But the Vet said that his blood work was very normal except for a slightly elevated potassium level.He thinks this is the reason that Puff's foot twitches on and off.He also thinks that the elevated potassium level is from too much melon.This visit to the vet was very expensive, but I at least I have peace of mind,knowing that he is healthy.He has been eating very well since he came home form the vet.I guess he will eventually poop as what goes in must eventually come out????I got some Bokchoy and am going to see if he will eat that.The pipette that I was using to give him water with disappeared. I think the cats got it.I will have to get another one. Puff is such a picky eater because he was not fed properly by his former owners.I really wish that people would do the research and find out what these animals need before they go out and get one. Bearded Dragons have very specific needs and if they are to live a healthy full life, people need to care for them properly! I try my best but it is very hard to get Puff to eat greens because he was never fed them to begin with.It doesn't help that he has a sweet tooth for things like melon and sweet potato either.I did get him to eat some carrot the other day.I am going to try the Bokchoy in the morning.Puff is already asleep so I will turn off his lights now. Puff had to go to the vet

Poor Puff had to go to the vet on Wednesday.He had not eaten in 7 days and even though he had eaten before that, he had not pooped. I new some thing was wrong because he even refused crickets!I was soaking him in warm water and rubbing his belly but, nothing. We went to the vet and Dr. Jarchow said Puff was constipated. Poor Puff had to suffer the indignity of an enema!He had a uric acid plug that was holding up everything.Dr. Jarchow said that this caused a high phosphorus level to build up in his body and that was the reason his foot was twitching. The conclusion was that Puff needs to drink more water. I thought that I was going to have a big bill but they only charged me for the exam so it was only $50.00.Puff seemed better today and he did eat 3 crickets. I used a pipette (like an eye dropper) to give him some water as he just doesn't drink enough on is own.I am so glad Puff is better. I was so worried.I love this little guy so much. Puff was awake Christmas morning

I was surprised to see that Puff was awake Christmas morning. I showed him the sweet potato that "Santa" brought him and he seemed interested. I also put the new UVB light on his tank. I did not have time to bake the sweet potato but I gave him some crickets which he ate. I then headed out to my neighbor's house and gave the kids a DVD of How to Train Your Dragon.I came home with some tamales, some home made soup and some Deer meat. Yum! Then it was off to Carla's house for dinner. Dinner was great and I ate too much! Carla gave Puff a snowman picture frame with his picture in it. Real cute!She gave me a calender and 2 framed pictures of Puff which will hang above his tank.She also gave me a framed picture of all of her dogs.It was amazing that the photographer was able to get all of them together in one shot. It is a great picture!On the day after Christmas,I noticed that Puff had a twitch in his right hind foot.I thought it might be a lack of UVB light as he has been sleeping in his hide for days at a time during brumation and not getting enough light.I gave him a bath in warm water which he enjoyed. I dusted his melon as well as his crickets with extra calcium and vitamin D3and put both UVB lights over him on his basking log.He slept on his log all day so he got a lot of the light he needs. I kept checking on him and the twitching slowed down by night.By Monday there was no twitching at all.I did call the vet and he said to make sure he has more UVB light even if I have to drag him out of the hide to do it. I am going to make an appointment with the vet soon to get him his yearly check up.I am so glad that Puff is better already.No permanent damage! Puff the Golden Dragon,to be continued..............

Puff has been sleeping the days away and waking to eat every few days. He is not eating a lot but he does eat. I miss him when he is sleeping, but I know it is healthier for him to go through Brumation.I want him to have a healthy ,long life. He did wake up today after sleeping for 2 days and nights.He ate 3 crickets. I sang him some Christmas songs and he seemed to enjoy them. I bought him another UVB light for Christmas, so now he will have UVB light at both ends of his tank. He still has his basking light at one end. I currently have his heat light on and he is basking under it now. He will probably sleep through Christmas so I will offer him some of the sweet potato that I got for him when he wakes. I decorated Puff's tank with all sorts of Christmas stickers, as well as a small stocking, and it looks really nice. Carla is going to take some pictures of it so I will post them on the blog soon. Halloween Party

On Saturday,I was invited to a Halloween Birthday party for a 4 year old little neighbor girl. I did not know what I was going to do about the required costume though? Then I thought of the Movie,How To Train Your Dragon. Puff was the one that needed the costume for that theme.I went to the local Craft store,and bought a bunch of stuff to make Dragon Wings.Yes,wings for Puff! I got some felt,pipe cleaners,glitter,glue, and some other things. I also got a coloring book and crayons for the little girl.At first I wasn't sure what to get as a gift for a 4 year old, but I remembered how much I liked to color in my coloring books as a small kid and I know kids can never have too many crayons.I was right,she loved them. Any way,back to Puff's "wings". I finally decided on using the gold leaves and glued 3 of them together for each wing.I put glitter around the border of each wing. I then made a harness out of the felt and pipe cleaners. I then sewed each wing on the harness. When I tried it on Puff, it looked great. Golden Wings for a Golden Dragon!I went to the party as a Dragon Trainer and Puff was the Dragon! The kids loved Puff and lined up to pet him. Even the adults there thought Puff was fantastic. He was so good about having to wear the wings. He just sat up on my shoulder and looked around.At one point,he took a nap. When it started getting dark, ( the party was out side )it was a little cool for Puff. I took him home as I only live next door. I came back to the party and enjoyed dinner and Birthday cake.I had fun, and I think Puff enjoyed it. He did put up with having to wear his "Wings" even though they were probably not very comfortable.He was so good about it. I love Puff so much. He is so special and so very precious! Hi folks,Puff here. I had a Birthday recently and boy! was it fun. My Mom and Auntie Carla gave me presents and a birthday cake!I love the cantaloupe melon that Auntie Carla gave me. I am a Dragon of discriminating taste. I can tell when a melon is organic because they taste so much better than non-organic melons. The one that Auntie Carla gave me is so juicy and good. I wanted to eat it before the wrapping paper was off,it smelled so good. Mom and Auntie Carla gave me Birthday cards that were so cute.I did not eat any of my cake as this sort of stuff is not really good for Dragons, but I watched Mom and Auntie Carla enjoy it. When they lit the candle and sang "Happy Birthday" to me,it was quite wonderful.At one point,I ended up with cake icing on my tail.I was just so excited with every thing going on that I got my tail in the way. I love the dish that my Mom gave me.My crickets and worms seem to taste better when served in it. It has hearts on it and when I am done eating my diner,I like to sleep in it! Mom says I look uncomfortable when I sleep in my dish but I'm not really uncomfortable.I think I like Birthdays! I hope I have more of them! My glass house has been decorated with Pumpkins and other Halloween stuff and I love it. It even says Happy Birthday Puff on it. Well, it's official, I adopted Puff exactly 1 year ago today.I decided that I would celebrate his birthday on the day I adopted him as I don't know when his real birthday is. He was 4 years old when I got him so today he is 5 years old. Oh,I forgot to mention that Puff ate sweet potato yesterday. I have been feeding him in the morning now as Puff has decided that is when he is hungry. Any way, Puff had a birthday party this afternoon. Carla gave him a cantaloupe melon and she wrapped it in birthday paper and she gave him the cutest card that had a dinosaur on it. I gave Puff a new dish to put the worms and crickets in when I feed him. It has hearts on it and it's real cute. I also gave him a card with a Dragon on it that was also cute.I cooked diner and we had Baked Penne pasta. It was yummy.Puff had already been fed this morning. Then I brought out the cake.It was very pretty and had a candle that was the number 5. I lit the candle and I made a wish for Puff while he watched intently.Of course,I wished that he would have many more birthdays to come. I blew out the candle and when Puff turned around he got icing on his tail! I think he enjoyed his birthday party. We even sang "Happy Birthday" to Puff. Carla took many pictures and I am going to put them here on the blog soon.I decorated his tank with pumpkins and bats candy corn and other Halloween stuff and then put the letters on that said "Happy Birthday Puff". The Reptile show was wonderful !

Nick and I went to the reptile show. Carla could not make as she got her flue shot the day before and woke up sick the next day.I saw lots of beautiful Bearded Dragons.Some very colorful.I collected lots of business cards so I will be able to find a breeder when I am ready to get another Bearded Dragon. For now, Puff is my one special and very precious friend and I only want him.That way he gets all my attention and love.I saw many beautiful snakes and many different kinds of lizards. Nick likes the Blue Toung Skinks and he also liked a very small Gecko that was a royal blue color. I also saw a very rare Asian Red tail Green Rat snake. I had one of these snakes and was very excited to see this one as it is the only one, other than my own that I have ever seen. There were so many beautiful Reptiles and amphibians at the show. I showed Puff's pictures to a lot of people and they agreed that he was very beautiful and colorful. The baby Beardies were so cute. It is hard to believe that Puff was ever that small.I want to go again next year! Tonight, Puff ate some cantaloupe melon and 3 crickets. I am so glad he is starting to eat a more healthy diet now. Nick came and worked on my computer today. He told me that his house was broken into and all his computers and cell phones and some other stuff was stolen. That was why I could not reach him . Some of the stuff was covered by insurance but most was not. He just got his lap top and his cell phone replaced. The pictures of Puff in his bath tub were on the stolen phone so they are gone. He did take some more pictures today but he has to email them to me. My Printer is now working but the ink had dried up so I have to get new ink before I can print anything.It will have to wait until next month as I had Wanagi's vet bill to pay off this month.Last night I left the last cricket in Puff's dish but he did not eat it.It was still there this morning when I turned on the lights . A little later,I noticed it was gone and Puff was just chewing it up with a big smile on his face. An early breakfast for him.The Reptile Show is on the 25th of this month and Carla and I are going. Nick wants to go but he has to see what his school schedule is first. I won't have any money to buy anything but I can still see all the reptiles there.Puff is basking on his log now. I am going to feed him soon. He is so cute! Oh, I almost for got! the new picture on the headder of this blog. Puff is eating better now

The weather has cooled off a bit. It has been in the nineties with a lot less humidity.Puff was only eating insects for awhile,but now he ate 5 peas and 3 crickets tonight.I found another internet link about Bearded Dragons and found several more foods on the list to try on Puff. I think he might like blue berries and water melon. There are a few greens on the list that I am going to try also.I am glad the weather has changed as the humidity was very hard on Puff. It was also hard on me and the dogs,cats ect.Any way, I am very relieved that Puff is eating better now.Puff The Golden Dragon,to be continued......................

I have had to get creative in order to get Puff to eat.The other day he actually ate 2 peas and 3 crickets.I used the vibrating dish to get him to eat the peas. It has been at least 1 month since Puff has eaten anything other than insects,so I was quite happy when he ate the peas. Yesterday he was refusing to eat any thing,so I left the dish in his tank on top of the hide where he was basking. I left him alone with 1 worm and 1 disabled cricket (missing it's 2 back legs). I came back 2 hours later to check on him and both the worm and the cricket were gone.He did eat them.Today I did the same with 1 cricket and 1 worm and sat down to watch.He did not eat them and I thought if I talk to him and sing to him,maybe he will eat . I know he doesn't understand the words but he likes to hear my voice so I was telling him about when I adopted him. When I was looking on Craig's List for Bearded Dragons, there was his picture and it was love at first sight.I told Puff,that I just had to have him and I went to D and D Reptile rescue and adopted him.The rest is history. He then ate the cricket. I guess he liked the story of his adoption.I added another cricket to the dish and started to sing to him.He was watching me instead of his food,so I stopped singing and just watched him for a while. Nothing.I decided to start talking to him again.I told him how beautiful he is and how much I love him and he would make me very happy if he would eat the rest of his diner.He looked up at me and he then scarfed up both the worm and cricket in one bite!I not only have a beautiful Dragon,but a talented one also. Puff is not eating well

The humidity has been unbearable lately. Puff is not eating well at all. After 3 days of eating nothing and him just sleeping for days, and me worrying, I decided to take as much time as it took to make sure he ate something.It took a little over an hour of me sticking a worm in front of him and singing to him,and talking to him and he finally ate the worm.He is refusing all the other things he likes. I have been doing this for the past 3 days now and have gotten him to eat as much as 2 worms at each feeding. Last night I tried the vibrating dish with apples and peas. He just refused to even look at them. I offered him a worm and let it crawl through the peas and he went for it! I gave him another but he did not go after that one. I turned away for just enough time to turn the TV sound off so I could sing to him and when I looked back again,the worm was gone.That was fast! I gave him another worm and it took awhile but he also ate that one.So last night he ate 3 worms in all.He has not wanted the crickets lately. Maybe I will try one tonight.I find that when he doesn't eat that he sleeps most the next day.When I get him to eat, he will be active the next day.I can't wait until this humidity goes away and I am sure that Puff feels the same. The humidity has gotten worse

The humidity has gotten so high in Puff's tank that he is sleeping more. He does not eat when the humidity is really high.I had to tear down his waterfall and replace it with a small water dish.That seemed to help some. In the morning the humidity is not too bad but as the day progresses,the humidity goes up,especially late afternoon.I have had to wake Puff from his long nap on several occasions so he could eat is dinner. He has been only eating 1 or 2 bites of whatever I offer him and maybe 1 or 2 insects.Sometimes I can get him to eat one more bite if I sing to him. Puff is not happy that his waterfall is gone. I caught him trying to sit in the small water dish.Poor Puff! I took him out and gave him a bath. He enjoyed this and I let him soak as long as he wanted to. He gets so dirty when he gets wet and then digs in the dirt.I have discovered that I can wake Puff by singing to him.I really don't know why he likes my singing.I think he may be the only creature on Earth that does. Even I can't stand my singing voice.I went to the store and bought 3 new fans to help keep my house a little cooler. I can't wait until Summer is over! I am sure Puff agrees. HOT and HUMID !

The weather has been so HOT ! Too hot for me and the dogs and cats. The humidity is also up but we have not had any rain.Puff does not seem to mind the weather.I take him out in the morning for his "sun walk" and he loves to watch the world from his perch on my shoulder.He wakes early in the morning and after his outing, he takes a nap on his flat rock or basks on one of his logs. Then he explores his tank and some times takes a dip in the waterfall.He usually naps in his hide the rest of the afternoon. Sometimes he wakes for his dinner and sometimes he just sleeps till morning.There are days that he eats well and days that he only eats very little,or not at all.When he is not eating well,I sing to him and most of the time he will eat 1 or 2 more bites of food.I spend a lot of time petting him and singing to him. Puff loves to hear me sing to him. I think he is the only one! Some times he will not go to sleep at night unless I sing to him.I don't know why he likes to hear my singing,but he does?????? He now eats cantaloupe,canary melon,and honey dew as well as peas, and snow pea pods,apples,bananas,and carrot tops.And of course, his worms and crickets.Right now he is still napping in his hide. He did not eat so well last night. I hope he will eat better to night.I love Puff. How can you not love an animal that loves your bad singing voice? A few words from Puff on the lazy days of Summer

Hi guys,Puff here. I just love Summer! My mom takes me outside every day to see the world. I really enjoy these outings.Of course when I get back into my glass house, I am so tired I must take a nap. Some times I sleep right through my dinner time and this worries my mom. If I have eaten really well the day before,she will let me sleep until morning. But,If I did not eat well,she will wake me up to feed me.Sometimes I am grouchy! It takes me a while to wake up and be ready to eat. Some times I don't eat enough and mom worries that I must not be feeling well. She worries about me so much.I know she loves me. I love it when she sings to me. Sometimes I will eat one more bite of food for mom if she sings to me when I am eating.She has been finding new foods for me to try. She found this really yummy canary melon. I really like it, but my favorite is still cantaloupe melon.Sometimes I just don't like what she tries to feed me,and I will refuse to eat it.Mom tells me that I need to eat more different things that are healthy for me. I guess I am just "PICKY!" This worries my mom.I will never turn down a fat juicy worm or a cricket.When I get too hot in my glass house, I will take a dip in the waterfall dish. I love my waterfall. Mom always knows what I like and she built this waterfall just for me.I love my mom! I am the luckiest Dragon to have my mom! She takes such good care of me. Puff is enjoying his summer days

Puff is enjoying the summer days.I have been taking him outside every afternoon and he really enjoys these outings. He loves to watch the world around him from my shoulder.He is taking in all the sun he can get and his color is really coming in nicely.He has been eating very well.Today I observed him sitting on top of the rocks in the waterfall and he fell off into the water.I laughed and he looked at me as if to say that was what I wanted to do,so don't laugh at me.He climbed out of the water and went up on his basking log to get warmed up after his cool splash incident.I just love Puff,he has such a great personality.I have been singing to Puff every day and he really seems to enjoy it.He closes his eyes and if I stop singing to him,he opens his eyes and gives me the look. Don't stop!so I continue to sing to him and he closes his eyes again.I have really enjoyed having Puff.Bearded Dragons are such wonderful little creatures.Puff is a member of my family and I love him dearly!The Reptile Show is coming to Tucson in September and I can't miss it this time.Maybe I will find some new things to buy for Puff. I will have to get some pictures of Puff so I can show him off.We are not allowed to bring our own critters to the show,so pictures will have to do.It is time for Puff to go to bed now. Puff has been very active with the hot weather

Puff has been waking early each morning. He is always happy to see me as I pass by his tank during my morning duties, taking care of all the animals.The other day he got so excited when I stopped in front of his tank to say good morning and to turn on his day lighting. He was on the basking log and when I said "good morning Puff" his head went up and he started to go right towards me and walked right off his log and took a header! Went face first into the dirt!He shook off the dirt and looked around to see if any one else saw what he did. It was like he was saying,"I didn't just do that did I?"He looked so embarrassed,poor guy. And I didn't help any as I laughed at his silly antics.I opened the top of the tank and scooped him up and held him close and asked him if he was ok and said I was sorry for laughing at him.I stroked him and he settled down and closed his eyes. I sang to him and we just had nice time cuddling. He is such a sweet Dragon and he has a wonderful personality.He was just so happy that I took a little time to stop what I was doing to say good morning,that he forgot that he was up on his log. Luckily,it was only his pride that was hurt. He has been eating very well.He finished up the pea pods and the cantaloupe and is now eating apples again.I took several black beetles out of his tank when I cleaned it and added some new dirt. I think they were the worms that got away and burrowed down into the dirt before I could catch them.I guess they morphed. Puff spends a lot of time sitting in the waterfall dish.Yesterday he was sitting with just his tail under the water flow. There is some skin that needs to be shed from his tail and I guess he was soaking it for this reason.I have been taking him outside in the sun every day now. He loves to watch the world from my shoulder.I am still pondering the idea of building an outdoor enclosure so he can spend more time basking in the real sun rather that the fake sun light on his tank.I have been singing to Puff almost every day. I know he doesn't understand the words but he really loves to hear my voice. I do notice that when I sing certain songs like "Puff the Magic Dragon" and "My beautiful Puff",( my own version to the tune of "My Bonnie lies over the ocean"),well, he really seems to like them best.I still play the flute for him also and he really likes that.Even the dogs and cats gather around when it's flute time.Puff is a very happy Dragon and so is his Mom!I just love this little Lizard! Puff is now eating snow pea pods

Puff has been waking earlier these days. It has been quite warm outside,85 degrees to day.I have been taking Puff outside and sitting in the sun with him on my shoulder. He loves to watch the birds and small lizards on the fences.He looks all around and listens to the sounds of the day.He really enjoys being outside. I am thinking about building him an outdoor enclosure.I have been continuing to try new foods to see what Puff will eat. I have discovered that he likes snow pea pods. I cut them into bite size pieces and he scarfs them up.The only "green" things he will eat are peas,carrot tops and snow pea pods. He has a sweet tooth as he loves cantaloupe melon,apples,and bananas.I bought him a pare and I will try this sometime this week.I am waiting for the price of honeydew melons to come down and then I will try that also.Puff has been sitting in the waterfall dish a lot. He really seems to like it. The other day he pooped in the water and I had to drain the water and clean every thing and set it up again.What a job! But it's worth it to see how much he enjoys it.Last night Puff went to sleep before I fed him and did not wake up to get his dinner. This morning,I fed him some banana for breakfast and he scarfed that. Tonight,he ate some apple pieces and 2 crickets and 2 worms. He has been eating very well. I hope he is not getting too fat. I worry about that as I want to keep him healthy.I turned out the lights late tonight as I got busy and forgot the time.Puff was basking on his log and still awake. Hi there! It's Puff on this wonderful April morning.I just finished taking a bath in my water fall dish. My mom made this really cool water dish for me.It's my own private waterfall dish. Some people have a sauna. I have a small private waterfall pond. Any way, I love to soak in it and I can take a drink if I get thirsty. My mom sure knows what I like.Sometimes when I am soaking in the waterfall, my mom will play her flute for me.It is so soothing that it puts me to sleep. She always tells me how much she loves me. I love her too!She has been feeding me all kinds of new things.Mom says I have a sweet tooth.I love bananas,apples,and cantaloupe melon,as well as peas and carrot tops.I really like the sweet things best. Of course she still feeds me crickets and worms along with the sweet treats.I love it when My mom talks to me.She tells me that I am Beautiful,magnificent,gorgeous,and she says that I am the most beautiful Dragon in the whole wide world.She tells me that she is so lucky to have me. I think I am lucky to have her as my mom.She still sings to me and plays her flute for me.I hope that other Dragons have it as wonderful as I do.I have a great life.My mom has given me another log so I can climb up to my waterfall. She keeps my glass house very clean for me.She gives me baths in my own bath tub, with warm water.Soooo nice! She tells me as soon as the weather is really warm,she will take me out side to bask in the sun!For now I have 3 logs to choose from to bask on.I still watch TV from my mom's shoulder and when she strokes me,it feels so good, I fall asleep. Puff loves his waterfall

Puff has been waking up earlier now that it has warmed up again.I bought a new log for Puff and put it up next to his waterfall. He can now get into the dish as he just climbs up on the log and into the waterfall dish.He has slept on top of it several nights. Today he soaked in it for most of the afternoon.He has been eating very well. I purchased some supper worms at Petco last week and there were supposed to be 45 worms in the container but there were only 22. They were the puniest looking worms. About the size of meal worms.I have to feed 3 of them to make 1 of the normal size supper worms that I usually get. Puff grabs all 3 of them at once.I don't think I will purchase the worms there again.I have the crickets set up in a bigger container now,but they still seem to be dying off.Puff's heat lamp burned out again. It lasted less than a month.The last one lasted for 4 months. Pets mart would not replace it as I did not save the receipt.I bought another one and guess what! That one did not work at all. I saved the receipt this time and made the manager test the light this time before leaving the store.This one works. What a pain in the you know what to have to go back up to Pets mart to get another light.Poor Puff had to sleep with his day lamp on all night to keep it warm enough for him that night.Right now Puff is soaking his tail in the waterfall dish. Puff has ignored the waterfall

Puff has been sleeping late the last several mornings.When he does wake up, he is active.He has been digging in the dirt a lot, and napping in the afternoon.I had hoped that he would inspect the waterfall I made for him but he has totally ignored it. Tonight,after I fed him and left him to bask for a while,I decided to put him up close to the waterfall to see what he would do.At first he just looked at it. Then he climbed up into it and sat on top of the rocks that conceal the tube that the water comes from.He just sat there for a while. Then he moved his body down into the water and sat in the water.He did not drink any water. The water is not as warm as the water I bathe him in. He then decided to climb out and he climbed up on his basking log.At 10:07pm I turned out the lights for the night and sang Puff to sleep. Good night my beautiful Puff,I love you. Puff has a new waterfall in his glass house

I have been so busy lately that I have not had much time to post here. I think I am all caught up now. Things have been pretty normal with Puff. He has been sleeping a lot because of the bad weather but now that it is warmer,he is much more active.I have not received the pictures from Nick yet.I found a rather large,ugly black beetle drinking out of Puff's water dish today. The worm that Puff dropped the other day must have morphed in to it's beetle stage. I corralled it and tossed it out side as I am not sure Puff should eat that kind of beetle. Puff has been eating very well. Tonight he ate 9 peas, 5 pieces of apple,3 crickets and 2 worms.He finished up the cantaloupe melon yesterday. I finally got the waterfall dish built and test ran it for a week. It works great and looks quite nice. Puff, however has totally ignored it.He is currently in the hide under the waterfall.Now he is coming out of the hide.He went in to the hide on the opposite side of the tank now. He still has not acknowledged the waterfall. Maybe he will check it out tomorrow?I think he is going to sleep for the night.I thought he would be interested in the sound of the running water enough to check it out but alas,he is now asleep.I have turned out the lights and said good night to my beautiful Puff.Tomorrow is another day........I love you Puff. Puff is still sleeping this morning. Today is my money day so I will be gone most of the day. I will be leaving about 10:00am and will turn on the lights for Puff.He will have the day to him self to bask or nap or dig or do whatever he wants to do.I will think of my beautiful Puff while I am out. I will be at the pet store buying his food and other things for him. I did some more work on the waterfall dish and hope it will be ready to put into his tank by next week. Monday morning,Nick came and installed Windows 7 in my computer for me. Puff was awake at 10:00am.He was basking on his log and pooped on the log.I took him out of his tank and put him in his bath so I could clean the mess up. That done, Nick used his camera phone and took some pictures of Puff taking his bath. He also got several shots of me drying him after his bath. I hope to get them up on the blog soon.I was able to remove some of the loose skin around his face and left eye.Puff enjoyed his bath as usual.After holding him for awhile I put him back in the tank and he climbed up on his log to bask. When I fed him dinner,he ate lots of apple and 2 crickets and 2 worms.At 10:00pm,I turned out the lights for the night and sang Puff to sleep.Good night Puff,I love you. Dragon,still very sleepy

The weather has cooled of in the last several Days and Puff has been sleeping a lot. He does wake up to eat but then goes back to sleep.He did wake up at the 4:00pm on Saturday so that my friends Rachel and Jeremy could meet him. They are a totally blind couple and they really wanted to meet Puff as they have never seen a Bearded Dragon. They got to pet him and hold him and they really liked him.When I put him back in is tank,he promptly went back to sleep. Puff did wake in time for his dinner and ate lots of apple, the last cricket,and 3 worms. So many of this batch of crickets died before I got to feed them to Puff. I buy 20 at a time and within 2 days,7 of them had already died. I would say I actually lost more than half of them in 4 days.I need to find a better, healthier, source of crickets for Puff. I never loose any of the worms. I will not be Posting for a while as I am changing over to Windows 7 and don't know when Nick will be able to do it.Puff The Golden Bearded Dragon, to be continued some time in March.

Cold Weather = Sleeping Dragon

Puff has been waking up late these last few days. The weather has been rather cold here.Puff has been taking naps through out the days.I don't like to disturb him from his naps so I have not been handling him very much.Some times he is napping when it is time for his dinner and I waite until he wakes to feed him. Last night he ate peas and carrot tops and 2 crickets and 3 worms.Tonight, he ate lots of apple and 2 crickets and 1 worm.I have already turned out the lights for the night,but Puff is still awake.He is perched on his log. I tried singing him to sleep but I guess he is just not tired yet.He will close his eyes when he is ready to sleep. Good night my beautiful Puff,I love you. Hi guys, gals and fellow Dragons,Puff here.I guess it's time for me to say a few words.I still have the most wonderful home and a wonderful Mom! She is still singing to me and playing her flute for me. I love Flute music! My Mom has also been feeding me all sorts of good things.I really love cantaloupe and apples,Yumm. I still like peas and carrot tops.I hate stuff like Parsley and beet tops and mustard greens,Yuk!I love crickets and worms,Yumm. My mom feeds me very well.I love it when she talks to me.It is so soothing.She always tells me how beautiful and magnificent I am and she loves me. I am a very lucky Dragon to have a Mom like her.She gives me wonderful warm baths.She keeps my glass house very clean.I have plenty of dirt to dig in. I love to dig!We get to watch TV together. I can sit on her shoulder or nestle in under her chin and she keeps me warm.She pets me and that puts me to sleep,it feels so good!Some times the cats and dogs watch me but I am not afraid because my Mom keeps me safe.When I perch myself on Mom's shoulder,I look at the fish tank and watch the small colorful fish swimming around.I think they are called guppies.I love to watch them.My mom keeps life very interesting for me.Sometimes when she turns out the lights at night,she sings me to sleep.I hope all the other dragons have wonderful places to live and people who love them.I am a very lucky Dragon and I love my Mom! Friday and Saturday : Dragon update

Friday morning,Puff was awake early. I took care of all the animals and fed my self and then I took Puff out of his tank for awhile. I did not have a lot of time to spend with him as I was invited to go to lunch with some friends from my guide dog list.When I returned home it was 5:40pm.I fed the dogs and I fed Puff. He ate lots of cantaloupe melon, 5 crickets and 1 worm.He just loves that cantaloupe. When I turned out the lights for the night,Puff was already asleep. Saturday morning, Puff awoke at 10:00am.I sang to him and I played my flute for him. I took him out of his tank for most of the afternoon and we watched TV. Puff of course,watched from his perch on my shoulder. Puff fell asleep and took a very long nap on my shoulder.He slept through the entire second TV movie.I put him back in his tank and fed the dogs.It was raining outside and when I brought the dogs in they were wet.It took time to towel dry 8 dogs so Puff got fed a little late. I gave him some apple and I think he likes it just as much as the cantaloupe.When I feed him cantaloupe and apple,he grabs each piece and barely chews it.Along with the apple,he ate 3 crickets and 1 worm.I turned out the lights at 9:00pm and sang Puff to sleep. Puff was awake very early this morning

Puff was awake at 7:50am this morning. He was digging all over his tank.After I fed the other animals and myself,I washed Puff's water dish and filled it with fresh water.I gave Puff a bath and he really enjoyed that. The shedding skin finally came off of his face.He must be more comfortable now with that skin out of the way.We watched the Olympics for awhile,Puff of course perched on my shoulder.I talked to him and sang to him.I stroked him and he enjoyed that. I put him back in his tank as I had to do some laundry.He basked and napped the rest of the day. After dinner I got ready to feed Puff. When he saw me getting his dishes out he started to get excited as he knew he was going to eat!Puff ate a lot of cantaloupe melon.He really loves this melon! He also ate 4 crickets.I think he likes the cantaloupe even more than the crickets.He takes his time when he eats them and grabs the melon and scarfs it down so fast.He barely even chews the pieces of melon. Tuesday and wednesday : Dragon update

On Tuesday, Puff was awake early. I held him for awhile and we watched the Olympics on TV.When I fed him, he ate lots of cantaloupe melon,2 crickets and 1 worm.Puff went to bed early. Puff slept in on Wednesday morning.He finally awoke at 11:45am.When I checked on him,he was sitting in his water dish. I wish the waterfall was ready to put in his tank but I can still smell the aquarium sealer, so it is not ready yet.I may still make some more additions to it.I sang to Puff and played my flute for him. We watched the Olympics on TV.Puff watched from his perch on my shoulder.I fed Puff his dinner as I was talking to my friend Rachel on the Phone.She is totally blind so I was explaining to her what Puff was eating and how he was eating it.He ate a lot of cantaloupe melon and 2 crickets and 2 worms.One of the crickets escaped momentarily but I did catch it and Puff ate it.I was telling Rachel about Puff's personality. She was very interested in hearing all about Puff and My 2 pet hairless rats,Remington and Jean Luc. When Puff was done eating,I left him to bask on his log. Puff " puffed " !

Puff was awake at 8:00am this morning. He basked and napped most of the day as I was busy doing yard clean up and laundry and cleaning fish tanks.Finally I took a break and checked on Puff.He was in his hide taking a nap,so I left him alone.After I fed the dogs and myself,I checked on him again. Puff was on his basking log and he was all "puffed"up and he looked twice his normal size! I did not see any reason for this.The dogs were outside and the cats were in the kitchen.There were no loud noises or loose crickets,no reason for this behavior.I stroked him and his beard deflated but it took awhile for his body to deflate.Once he was no longer "puffed" up,I took him out of the tank and held him and stroked him.When he was relaxed,I put him in the dining room and fed him. He ate every bit of the cantaloupe melon and 2 crickets and 3 worms.I think cantaloupe and apple are his new favorites.I put him back in the tank and he climbed up on his log to bask.I turned out the lights for the night at 8:35pm and sang Puff to sleep.Good night Puff,have good dreams,and don't be afraid.I love you. Puff was awake very early on Sunday morning

Puff was awake at 8:00am on Sunday morning. I guess because he went to bed early,he woke up early.After feeding all the dogs and cats and me,I checked on Puff.He was basking on the Christmas log. When I told him he was a beautiful Dragon and that he was Magnificent,he held his head up and turned it as if to show that he already knew that what I was saying was very true.I think he has a bit of an ego! I stroked him and sang to him.I took him out of his tank and we watched TV together, Puff from his perch on my shoulder.I had him out with me for most of the afternoon.At 4:45pm,I put Puff back in his tank and got the dog food ready. I fed the dogs and cooked my dinner. I waited to feed Puff until 6:00pm as I fed him too early yesterday.He was very hungry.He ate lots of apple and 2 crickets and 2 worms. He grabbed the apple and almost took my fingers with it! I think Puff has a sweet tooth. He loves apples and cantaloupe melon.I will have to find some more sweet things for him to try.I left him basking on his log.I turned out the lights at 9:00pm and sang Puff to sleep.I thought he was asleep but he opened his eyes when I stopped singing,so I continued to sing to him.He was finally asleep.Good night my Magnificent Puff,I love you. I fed Puff too early tonight

Puff was awake at 9:30am this morning. After feeding the dogs and cats and my self, I checked on Puff.I held him for awhile and we watched TV most of the morning.When I put him back in his tank,I sang to him and played my flute. He does really enjoy the music.I left him basking on his log as I had to start defrosting something for dinner.I decided to feed Puff early,around 3:30pm.I usually feed him later,about 6:00pm.Puff was not very hungry.I think it was just too early. He did not want any peas or carrot tops,but he did eat the cantaloupe melon. He also ate 2 crickets and 2 worms, but he took his time about eating them.He basked on his log for awhile and when I checked back later, he had already dug into his hide and was asleep for the night.This was about 5:45pm.I waited to see if he would wake,but he didn't. Puff awoke at 9:00am this morning. I sang to him and held him for awhile.I went to the pharmacy and to PetsMart.I got crickets for Puff and worked with my guide dog Shaman.Shaman was very good today.He is getting better about other dogs now.I think he is getting over his attack by that Pit Bull.Carla came over for dinner tonight. She watched as I fed Puff.We laughed when Puff was gobbling up the dancing peas.He ate all 7 peas.He also ate some carrot tops and lots of cantaloupe melon.He also ate 2 crickets and 2 worms. Puff likes apples but not beet tops

On Wednesday,Puff was awake very late,11:30am. I held him and sang to him.He took several naps throughout the day.I worked on building Puff's waterfall.I fed him and introduced him to some apple.He loved it!He also ate 3 crickets and 3 worms.Puff went to sleep before I turned out the lights. Thursday morning, Puff was awake at 9:30am. He is back to digging again.He is also taking frequent naps during the day.I sang to him and played my flute for him.He just loves flute music.In the afternoon,I gave him a bath,which he really enjoyed.I held him for a short while and then worked on finishing the water fall. I have it up and running and it works great. It will be a while before I can put it in Puff's tank as the smell of the aquarium sealer has to dissipate first.I think he will like it.When I fed Puff tonight, I tried feeding beet tops. He spit them out and refused to eat them.He did eat some carrot tops and he ate every piece of cantaloupe melon.He also ate 3 worms and 2 crickets. He had eaten so much of the melon that he was too full to eat the last cricket, so it go a reprieve.It was close to 9:00pm when I turned out the lights for the night.I sang Puff to sleep.Good night my beautiful Puff,I love you. Puff likes Cantaloupe melon

Puff was awake at 9:15am this morning.I took care of the other animals and fed my self and then I checked on Puff. I sang to him and talked to him for a while. I did not have time to interact more than that today as I had to get ready for my doctor's appointment.After my appointment,I went to Walmart and got a water container to build Puff's waterfall.I also paid some bills while I was out. I returned at 5:00pm. I fed the dogs and then I fed Puff. I discovered that he likes Cantaloupe melon.I gave him some melon yesterday and he ate quite a bit of it as well as the carrot tops tonight.He also ate 3 crickets and 3 worms.I am so glad I have found other things that he likes to eat.This is a much healthier diet for him.When I turned out the lights for the night, Puff was already asleep perched on top of the Christmas log.Good night Puff,I love you. Puff ate carrot tops !

Puff was awake very late this Sunday morning,11:30am.It was raining out and I got a late start with the dogs as None of them wanted to go out in the rain.Finally about 11:00am,the sun came peeping out from the clouds.Puff was basking and napping most of the morning so I let him be. I don't like to bother him when he is sleeping.I started watching a movie on TV,but I also fell asleep as the movie was rather boring.There wasn't much on because of the Super Bowl,and I am just not into football.I fed Puff early and offered him some carrot tops.I had to move Puff off of the vibrating dish so I could give him the carrot tops.He really likes that vibrator!Anyway the CTs moved around and to my surprise, Puff went for them.He ate quite a bit. I put some on the slippery dish with the worms and crickets and he ate some more along with 3 worms and 3 crickets.I left him basking on his log. "Dancing" Peas are good to eat

Puff was up early today,7:40am.After taking care of the cats and dogs and my self,I sang to Puff and played my flute for him. I took him out and held him for a while.I watched some really dumb movies on TV and Puff watched from his perch on my shoulder. Puff got bored and took a nap while I watched.When you can't see very well it is some times hard to know what is going on.Especially if just music is playing with no dialog.There was not much in the way of entertainment on TV today.I decided to give Puff a bath.I got his bath tub set up and put the warm water in it. I then put Puff in.He relaxed and enjoyed his bath. When the water cooled off, I took him out and dried him with a towel.I fed Puff early.I put the vibrating dish in his tank and turned it on.He immediately got on top of it.I turned it on again and let him have his vibrating massage.I then lifted him off of the dish and added the peas,and turned it on.Puff saw the peas"dancing" and started gobbling them as fast as he could.It was hard to count how many he ate.4 maybe 5 peas.I kept adding more peas and he ate a few more. Then he just watched the "dancing"peas.I guess he had eaten his fill.I offered him some crickets and worms and he did eat them. I left him alone to bask on his log and take a nap.I turned out the lights at 8:00pm and sang Puff to sleep. Good night Puff,I love you. The Vivicator

Puff was awake late this Friday morning,about 10:15am. He is still digging up his tank.He has holes every where. I went to PetsMart to get Dog and cat food for the month.I also got some stuff for the rats.I finally got this vibrating food dish called a Vivicator, for Puff.It was on sale. I also got his Super worms and crickets.When I returned home,I put the batteries in the dish and used the remote control to see how it worked.I makes the sound of crickets singing. I put it in the tank with Puff and put some peas in the dish.When I pressed the remote and it sounded like crickets,Puff got all wide eyed and came over to see what was up. At first he climbed up on top of the dish and sat on it and the peas.I kept pushing the remote and he just sat there.I guess he liked the feel of the vibrator.I left him alone for a while to see if he would move off of the dish. I checked back and he had moved. He was right next to the dish.I pushed the remote and the peas were jumping all around and suddenly Puff descended on them, gobbling them up as fast as he could!It worked! The dish worked! Puff thought the peas were alive and ate them with no trouble at all.I got my finicky Dragon to eat his peas.There's more than one way to con a lizard!That was money well spent!He ate about 5 or 6 peas,I think. I fed him his worms and crickets and left him alone to bask. When I went to turn out the lights for the night, Puff was already asleep.Good night my finicky Dragon.Now lets see if you will eat beet leafs and carrot tops I got for you tomorrow. Puff was awake at 8:00am this morning. After I took care of all the other animals and had my own breakfast, I checked on Puff. He has been digging all over his tank again. I took him out of the tank and held him for 2 hours. I watched TV and Puff watched from his perch on my shoulder. He loves to have his chin and beard rubbed.I sang to him when I put him back into his tank. I had to go down town to pay the mortgage and the water bill.When I returned I fed Puff.2 crickets escaped when I was putting them in the shaker. I tried to catch them but there are too many places for them to hide in the fish room.I hope I will not be over run with crickets running loose all over my fish room. There are 5 escapees in that room now. He ate 5 crickets and still no peas.He is shedding around his face. He then climbed up on his log to bask.He was still basking when I turned out the lights for the night. I sang Puff to sleep and said good night to my beautiful Dragon. I love you Puff. Puff was awake at 8:00am on Wednesday morning. Not much to tell as it was my money day, Carla took me to the bank and grocery shopping,as it was raining.We also stopped at Animal Control and checked on a Husky that was a stray. Beautiful dog! I hope the owners claim it.I was gone pretty much the entire day. When I did get home and checked on Puff,he was on his basking log.I fed him and he ate 6 crickets,I did not offer the peas this time. I bought some apples and cantaloupe to see if Puff might eat them.I will have to go to the organic market for some other greens as my grocery store does not carry them.Puff was already asleep when I turned out the lights for the night.Good night,my beautiful Puff. Puff is a smart Dragon

Puff was awake at 7:45am this morning.He has been digging all over his tank.The dirt is in disarray and there are holes every where as well as in the hides.He will dig one hole and move to another area and dig some more.After I fed the animals and my self,I held Puff for a while.When I put him back into the tank,I sang to him and played my flute for him. He really enjoys the flute music.Tomorrow is garbage day so I had to go rake up the yard and put the garbage out. When I came back in the house,I checked on Puff.I found him in a tight spot between the basking log and the Christmas log and the wall of the tank. He was trying to turn around and he couldn't quite do it. I told him that he would have to move forward a few inches and then he might be able to turn around.To my surprise, he did just that!It was like he understood what I said. He probably just figured it out on his own,but he did it right after I said that.Either way, Puff is a very smart Dragon.He spent the rest of the afternoon basking on both of his logs.It was rather late when I fed him.I was waiting for Lost to come on TV.He ate 3 crickets and 1 worm.He refused the peas this time.After I fed him he climbed up on the Christmas log to bask. I talked to him,telling him that he is magnificent.He is the most beautiful Dragon in the world.He sits there and looks at me,cocking his head and moving his eyes,like he is taking in every word.I tell him that I love him and he moves towards me,and he does the beardie arm wave!This is the first time I have ever seen him do this! I have seen dragons on YouTube do this, but have never seen Puff do it.He has such a wonderful personality! I really do love this lizard as much as I love my cats and dogs!They are all part of my family.I would be devastated if any thing were to happen to him!I think I will change the subject as I don't want to think about any thing negative here.Any way, I played my flute for Puff and he enjoyed that.Later in the afternoon,I held him for a while.I watched my Soap and Puff watched from his perch on my shoulder.After watching TV for a while,I put Puff back in his tank and started cooking dinner.I fed the dogs at 5:00pm and then ate my dinner. I then fed Puff and he ate 1 pea (hand fed) and then the phone rang. It was Carla.When I hung up the phone,I went back to finish feeding Puff. I put several Peas on the dish with a worm. He ate the worm and then he ate 3 peas from the dish!I usually have to hand feed the peas,but this is the first time he has eaten them from the dish.I put a cricket on the dish and he ate it.This dish is very slippery and the crickets can't walk on it. If they jumped,they could get away but for some reason they don't. This seems to be the best way to feed Puff.I did the same with the other crickets and he ate them all.Altogether,he ate 4 peas,1 worm and 3 crickets.I am so glad he is eating the peas again.I left him alone to bask on his log.I turned out the lights at 8:00pm and sang Puff to sleep.I love you Puff,good night. Puff was awake at 7:50am this morning. When I was done taking care of the other animals,I took Puff out and held him for awhile. He sat on my shoulder while I watched a movie.He watched for a short time and then took a nap.After the movie was over,I sang to Puff and played my flute for him.Carla called and told me she was on her way over to bring a donated crate for Foxy. This dog had destroyed the door on the old crate even after I repaired it and painted it with "HOT" sauce.I guess she likes "HOT"sauce. I fed Puff before Carla arrived. He ate 5 crickets and 6 peas.Yes he is eating peas again.Carla and I set up the crate and Carla went to Home Depot to get some clips and a piece of ply wood for the crate.When she returned I invited her for dinner.She went home to feed and take care of her dogs and then came back at 6:30pm. We ate our dinner and we were talking about how Puff likes the tone of our voices when we talk to him.I finally got her to pet him!I got a cricket out for Puff so she could see him eat it. I hand fed it to him and he dropped it. I finally managed to catch it and put it in the slippery dish this time. Puff went for it and ate it this time. He then climbed up on his log to bask. He looked so tired. He was listening to us talk to him but he would close his eyes and then open them again. After Puff had his morning "snack",I decided to feed him early. Carla came by with the crickets and I got the dining room ready for Puff's dinner.I didn't offer any peas this time.He ate 4 crickets. I put him back in the tank and he climbed up on his log and basked.I put my dinner in the oven and fed the dogs and then fed myself.I checked on Puff and he had already dug down in his hide.This was about 5:00pm. I checked back a little later and he was still in the hide.Gone to bed for the night. I turned out the lights and said good night to Puff.I am so proud of him for catching that fly! Puff was awake at 8:00am this morning. I talked to him and sang to him and stroked him.While he was basking,I took the water dish out and washed it and gave him fresh water.I sat down to watch Wild America on TV and when I checked on Puff again,he was still on his basking log.I sat watching him as a fly that had been in his tank for about a week,kept buzzing him.I had hoped that he would catch it but a week later it was still there.As it buzzed around his head,he opened his mouth to catch it and missed.It buzzed him again and he opened his mouth and lunged.He caught it!Puff caught wild food all on his own!Pretty good for a visually impaired Dragon.He continued to look up and around for another one.Then he looked over at me with this proud look on his face. He was very pleased with him self.I was proud of Puff. He really did catch that fly.I called Carla to tell her of Puff's accomplishment. She laughed and said "At least he had something to eat today". She offered to get Puff"s crickets as she had to go out that way to pick up something any way. Puff was awake at 8:00am. After I took care of the dogs,cats and my self,I took Puff out of his tank. I sang to him and stroked his head and back.I try to remember not to stroke his tail as he twitches it.I think it must tickle.I watched TV for a while as I had nothing else to do.Puff watched TV perched on my shoulder.After I set the VCR to tape my Soap,I shut of the TV.I spent more time just stroking Puff and talking to him. He really seems to enjoy this.I think it is the tone of my voice.He looks at me and cocks his head and listens to my every word. He loves it when I sing to him. He will close his eyes and when I stop singing,he opens his eyes as if to say,"don't stop".So I continue to sing to him.I wonder if other people sing to their Dragons? Probably not. They would probably think I was some cray old lady,just babbling on to a lizard.Well,I can honestly say,if they spent as much time with their Dragons as I do with mine,they would find that the Dragons really do enjoy it.I really do think it is the tone of voice and not the words, that they enjoy hearing.I put Puff back in his tank and played my flute for him.He climbed up on his log and basked while listening to the music.I had to go into the kitchen to take something out of the freezer for dinner.when I checked on Puff again, he was sitting on top of the hide with his front feet on the water dish.He was looking out the window.Probably watching the dogs.I had several phone calls and then got Puff's dining room set up and fed him. He ate 2 crickets,3 worms and no peas.I have to go get more crickets tomorrow.Only 2 left. I turned the lights out at 8:00pm and sang Puff to sleep. Puff was awake at 7:15am this morning,before I turned on the lights.After taking care of the dogs and cats and my self,I had to get ready to go to the bank and do some shopping. It was rainy and cold outside so Carla said she would take me.I brought in the dogs and got them all crated and then left the house to go do my errands. When I returned,it was rather late in the day. I put the groceries away and sat down to take a rest.I then fed the dogs their dinner and then cooked my own dinner. Then I fed Puff. He ate 2 crickets, 3 worms and 0 peas today. I still needed to clean the rat cages and the cricket and worm containers. I also took care of the fish and did water changes.I still need to do a good cleaning of the big fish tank in the living room,but tomorrow is another day.Puff has already gone to bed, so I have turned out the lights.Poor Puff was kind of neglected today.I will make time tomorrow, and give him some special attention.Well, good night Puff and sweet dreams for now. It was a late kind of day

Puff slept in this morning. I turned the lights on at 10:30am,but he did not stir until 11;15am.He climbed down from his perch and promptly went into the hide and dug in.I left him alone for a while as to day is garbage day. I was outside cleaning up all the dog poop,so I could get the garbage out on time. Well apparently, I got it out too late as they did not take it away. The next time I checked on Puff, He was standing upright in his water dish. His tail and hind legs were in the dish and his belly was up against the glass and his front legs were also on the glass.I wish I had a camera!He was looking out the window at some birds that were having a rather loud disagreement over something. I was going to go to the bank to get some money to get all the stuff I needed to build Puff's water fall. By the time I took a shower and changed my cloths,It was 1:30pm.I started to bring the dogs in and get them crated. The phone rang and it was Carla. We discussed what to do with Foxy, the new rescue dog. This dog has a real problem. She has bitten me twice now and she tries to attack the other dogs. This is not good for any of them, but it really is bad for Shaman,my guide dog as he was attacked by a Pit bull several weeks ago.When I finally got off the phone,It was already 2:40pm. I tried to hurry to bring in the last dog but Wanagi refused to come in.In the mean time,Puff had pooped on his basking log.What a mess!I had to clean this up as if I had left it until I returned, Puff would have had poop all over him.He was climbing up on his log and I stopped him.This took time to clean and by the time I was done, it was 3:18pm. Since I still could not get Wanagi to come in,I gave up on going to the bank.I would never get there before they closed.like I said, it was a late kind of day. I fed Puff at 5:00pm after feeding the dogs and my self. He ate 3 crickets,2 worms and 3 peas. He basked after his dinner.I was going to post this earlier but,Cox had an outage in my area so I could not access the internet.When I brought the dogs in,it was raining. The smell of wet dog....YUK! Now I have a wet dog sitting on my bed!Puff has already gone to bed for the night. He is well dug in to his hide. I turned out the lights and said good night. On Tuesday,Puff was awake early again.8:00am and he was checking out the whole tank,from one end to the other.He was on both the Christmas log and his regular log basking.Then he was checking out the hides. I was busy taking care of the dogs and cats for a while and the next time I looked over at Puff,he was sitting in his water dish. I had to laugh as his tail was hanging over the side and his rear end and hind legs were in the dish,while his head and front legs were out side the dish. He looked so funny. As I was laughing, he turned his head around and looked at me and rolled his eyes.He is such a clown. I guess I am going to have to get that larger water dish as soon as possible.I also need to get the rocks to build the water fall for him.When he finished his "half bath",he climbed down from the hide and climbed up on the Christmas log to bask. I asked him if he was getting hungry and he got all wide eyed and climbed down and came up to the glass and started to scratch at the glass. I do believe he knows what the word "hungry" means as he was quite excited! I went and set up the dining room and got his food ready. He climbed right up onto my hand.He knew he was going to eat. He ate 3 crickets,2 worms and 1 pea.I offered him another pea and he went for it but missed.He then got frustrated and refused to eat any more peas.I am going to have to get one of those vibrating feeding dishes so the peas will move and he will be more likely to go after them.I am going to try and find some other greens for him at the grocery tomorrow.I put him back in the tank and he climbed up on his basking log. I sang to him and he seemed to enjoy that. I left him alone to bask the rest of the afternoon.He was still on his perch when I turned out the lights for the night.I sang to him and he fell asleep on is log. Puff was very active today

Puff was awake at 8:15am this morning. He was very active, He strolled from one end of his tank to the other many times and ended up on top of the hide with the water dish . He spent time with his front legs in the water dish,staring out the window watching some thing. Possibly the dogs or some birds. He then watched TV for awhile.He got board with that and climbed up on the Christmas log to bask.I did not have time to handle him as this was Housekeeper day and I was very busy doing wash while the housekeeper did other house work.I also had to clean the yard up after the dogs.When I passed Puff's tank he would come to the front glass and follow me back and forth.He wanted me to take him out.After the housekeeper left,I did take him out for a short time. I fed him around 4:00pm and he ate 3 crickets,2 worms and 1 pea.When I put him back in the tank,he climbed up on his log to bask.He was still on his perch when I turned the lights out about 8:00pm and sang him to sleep.I love you Puff,sweet dreams. On Saturday, Puff awoke about 10:30am.He explored his house and ended up climbing on the new log and basking for awhile. After taking care of the other animals and my self, Carla called and said she was picking me up to go shopping. I picked up my scripts and then we went to PetsMart. I picked up some rat food and some crickets for Puff. I also looked at reptile waterfalls and decided It was cheaper to build my own and I could build one as big as I wanted. The ones they had were really too small for Puff.If the water is moving,maybe he will drink more.I bought a Pump for $17.00 that will work very well.I have some aquarium sealer, I just need to find some rocks to glue together.When I got home,I fed Puff and he ate 4 crickets and 2 worms.He refused the peas.On Sunday Puff was awake very early at 8:00am. I sang to him and played my flute and held him for awhile. I put on a movie,Eragon. It was about a female Dragon and her rider. I have seen it before but I wanted to see it again. Not being able to see very well,there is always something I have missed the first time.Puff watched for awhile and then fell asleep as I was stroking him.When the movie was over, I put Puff back into his tank and got ready to feed him. I got his food ready and put him in the dining room. He ate 3 crickets,2 worms and still no peas.I talked to this young man on the phone about getting feeder crickets for Puff. I explained that so many of the crickets I buy from the pet store die before I can even feed them to Puff.His name is Bruce and he has 20 Bearded Dragons! I will be buying my next batch of crickets from him as his prices are much better than the pet store prices.Puff basked on the new log and then moved to the other log to bask. He was still awake when I turned out the lights for the night. Puff slept on and off through out the day

I was surprised to find Puff awake at 9:30am this morning. I decided to feed him early in case he went back to sleep. He ate 2 peas and 4 worms.Then he pooped, and this time it was in the dirt. It was very easy for me to just scoop it out and dispose of it.He climbed up on his log and basked. I sang to him and played my flute. He is so expressive.He seemed to really enjoy the flute.I was talking to him for quite a while and he seemed to be taking in every thing I was saying. He is so cute! He was cocking his head and following my every move with his eyes. He yawned and cocked his head again.I did not handle him as I don't want to make him uncomfortable after he has eaten.He then climbed down and went into his hide and took a nap. Later, I noticed he was up on the new log. He was basking on the cooler side of the tank.He went to sleep on that perch for a while.When I checked on him about 3:00pm, he had dug in on the cool side hide and was taking another hap.Puff likes to dig,and when he does dig, the dirt flies every where!I checked on him again about 6:00pm and he had dug in on the warm side hide and was asleep for the night. Bad weather = Sleeping Dragon

Puff woke up at 10:00am this morning. He had moved from his perch on the log, sometime between 3:00am and 7:00am. When I saw him ,he was sleeping on the flat river rock instead of the log where he went to sleep last night.Any way,when he awoke he was very active. Going from one end of the tank to the other,checking out the hides.It was cloudy with intermittent rain and cold wind outside.Even my dogs did not want to stay out too long.I had a feeling that Puff might go into hibernation, so I held him for a while and stroked him as I watched TV this morning.I put him back into his tank and proceeded to get his dining room ready so I could feed him early. Puff had other ideas. He went into his hide,dug in and went to sleep before I got his food ready.I kept the dining room ready and his food ready in case he should wake up and want to eat.He did wake up at about 4:30,but went into the other hide and went to sleep before I could put him in the dining room.The crickets and worms got a reprieve and I put the dining room back in the Fish Room. Puff was asleep for the night and possibly the next couple of days as the weather forecast is pretty gloomy.I turned out the lights and said good night to Puff. A few words from Puff

Hi, Puff here. From time to time ,I get to say a few words on my life and life with my mom.It is a good life!Today I decided to get up early. 9:00am and I was already out and exploring my glass house. Mom discovered that I was awake and turned on the lights for me.My mom has changed some of the furniture and I want to keep up with all of the new stuff.I have a larger water dish now. It is on top of the hide and keeps me from getting so much dirt in the water. I was checking this out this morning and decided to see if I could fit my body in the new water dish.Well, not quite,but a lot better than the last one.Besides I had a bath yesterday and I was still pretty clean. I just put the half of me in it that would fit.I grew board with this and climbed up on my basking perch. I love to bask! My mom came by to check on me and she told me how beautiful I was,that my color is so bright after my bath. She tells me that I am Magnificent! She sings to me and I love to here her play her flute for me. She has even learned a few new songs that she sings to me. She is always telling me that she loves me. I love her too! She takes me out of the glass house and lets me sit on her shoulder. I just love it when she strokes my head and back.It puts me to sleep and relaxes me.Some times she strokes my tail and that tickles.Some times I watch TV from my perch on her shoulder.My mom is so nice and warm and that keeps me comfortable.She knows just how warm I like my bath water to be.She has gotten me a new dining room to eat in. This makes it easier for me to catch my food.My mom can't see very well so she has a hard time hand feeding me. She was dropping so many crickets that she could not catch. The dining room makes things easier for both of us as I have a bad eye and some times miss when I try and grab my food.When she fed me today though, we did not use the dining room. She put the worms in a dish for me and I ate them from the dish. I am getting pretty good at this.I can even grab 2 worms at the same time.What a mouth full! Today, mom tied to feed me green beans.YUK!I closed my eyes and turned my head away and refused to eat them. My mom got the message and did not try again. She is pretty good at understanding me.She also tried the peas again.I am so tired of peas for now.She fooled me though.Mom put a pea on the dish along with a worm.The worm was moving and so was the pea. I grabbed the worm and got the pea also.I had it in my mouth so I just ate it and the worm together. My mom Laughed. Yes she fooled me this time. I won't be fooled again. I just let her laugh as it was kind of funny.She finally caught me dreaming when I was asleep the other night.I know she has always wondered if we Dragons dream.Yes, we do dream! Monday and Tuesday : Dragon update

Monday morning,Puff was up early at 9:00am. He was pretty active and was all over his tank exploring every nook and cranny. I held him in the after noon,and we watched TV together. I,relaxing on the bed,and Puff relaxing from his perch on my shoulder.I fed him early as I wanted to make sure he did not go to bed early and miss his diner.He then retired to his perch to bask where he went to sleep at 5:00pm. Tuesday morning,Puff was awake at 10:00am,still on his log where he had slept all night.He climbed down from his perch and was exploring his tank. He went into both hides and dug down inside one. I thought he was going to hibernate as the dirt was piled up in front of the hide and I could not even see him.I guess he just took a nap as he was back to exploring within the hour.I sang to him and his facial expressions told me he was enjoying this as he kept looking at me and cocking his head and his eyes followed my every move. I then left him alone for awhile as I had dog dishes to wash as well as my own.He moved about the tank and when I checked on him,he seemed happy to see me as he came up to the glass and tried to climb out,unsuccessfully. I put my hand in and he climbed right up and I held him for a while,stroking him and talking to him.I relaxed on the bed to watch TV and Puff took a nap on my shoulder. After my program was over,I gave Puff a bath. At first he relaxed and enjoyed it but then he got restless and tried to climb out of his tub. I dried him with a towel and put him into the dining room to feed him.He ate 3 crickets, 3 worms and 0 peas. I guess he is really tired of eating peas and I have not been successful in finding any other greens that he will eat.I put him back into his tank and he basked for awhile. Then he climbed down from his log and dug into his hide and went to sleep for the night early,about 4:30pm.I turned out the lights at 7:00pm. Friday,Saturday and Sunday update : Dragons do dream !

Friday, Puff was awake later,about 10:45am. I held him and sang to him and fed him early as Carla and I had to go check out a husky at the Humane Society.It had been deemed unadoptable and due for euthanasia.We rescued it,and were scheduled to pick it up on Saturday after the spay. By the time I returned home, Puff had already gone to bed early.On Saturday, Puff was awake at 10:00am.I held him and sang to him. I also played my flute for him.He really loves the flute music.Again I fed him early as I knew Carla and I were Picking up "Foxy Lady" and I knew Puff might retire early again.I tried to feed him parsley. I put the worms on his dish with the parsley so that when the worms moved, so would the parsley. It worked. He grabbed a piece of parsley but when he realized that it was not a worm, he spit it out,and refused to eat any more of it.I guess he doesn't like parsley. I will have to keep trying to find other greens that he will eat. When I returned home, Puff had gone to bed early again and I was glad I had fed him early. On Sunday, Puff did not wake up until after 11:00am.He meandered out of his hide and climbed up on is log to bask.When I came in from cleaning the yard,I decided to feed Puff early as I had some one coming to look at Raven,one of the rescue dogs. I held Puff for a while and sang to him.He then ate 3 worms.That afternoon,Raven was adopted! Carla and I brought her to her new home and when I returned home, Puff was still awake. I put him in his dining room and he ate 4 crickets.I put him back in to his tank and fed the dogs and my self.I was on the computer and noticed that Puff had fallen asleep on his basking log. I turned out the lights and continued taking care of all my emails. I looked over at Puff while talking to Carla on the phone and Puff suddenly twitched and then was still again. This is the first time I have seen Puff twitch in his sleep. He must be dreaming! Dragons do dream!Dogs and cats twitch and some times move their legs when dreaming, but I had never seen any movement from Puff when he was sleeping.This was the first time I had seen this. Wednesday and Thursday update

On Wednesday, Puff was up early and when I left to go to my Doctor's appointment, Puff was watching Martha Stewart on TV. When I returned, he had already gone to bed for the night.On Thursday,Puff woke up later than he has been waking up lately. It was almost 11:00 am when he finally meandered out and climbed up on his basking log. After taking care of the dogs and cats and then me, I took Puff out of the tank and held him for awhile. I sang to him and I also played my flute for him.He enjoyed it as usual. I stroked him and he enjoyed that also.I had to put him back in his tank as I had to go pay the Cox internet bill. They did not honer the extension they told me they gave me and turned off my internet anyway.When I returned home,Puff was napping in his hide. I hoped that he was not asleep for the night as I had not fed him yet. He came out of his hide at 5:45pm and was exploring his house. I went over to him and asked him if he was hungry. He put his head up and he got all wide eyed.I put my fingers in front of his face and moved them from side to side and up and down.He moved his eyes and head from side to side and up and down. I had to giggle as he looked so funny doing this. I put him in to his dining room and fed him. He refused to eat the peas but he did eat 3 crickets and 3 worms. I rubbed his chin and beard and he really seemed to enjoy this. I put him back in to his tank and he promptly climbed back up on his perch to bask.He was still awake when I turned out the lights at 8:00pm. I sang him to sleep.I love my beautiful Puff. I fed Puff in his new dining room today

Puff was not interested in eating yesterday. He spent most of the day either basking on his log or napping in his hide. When he was done with his nap, he would again climb up on his log and bask again.He finally went to sleep with half his body inside the hide, head sticking out, at 7:00pm. Today he was up early,before I turned on the lights. He was very active. I held him for a while,but he would not hold still. I could not put him down as the cats and dogs were in the room . I will have to put them all in another room before I can let Puff roam free.I put him in his new dining room and he ate 3 crickets, 2 worms and 2 peas.He is getting better at catching crickets, I still had to keep herding them in front of him,but he did not miss any of them. Puff has a unique language

I am enjoying figuring out Puff's language. It is very unique. He doesn't need a verbal language to be able to communicate. When he doesn't want to eat something he closes his eyes and moves his head away, until I take the offending food away.Once it is removed, he opens his eyes again and looks right at me.He will turn is head and eyes and look at me as if to say, "thank you, I was no longer hungry." When I talk to him he will also look at me. Some times he will roll his eyes or cock his head when I am talking to him.When I sing to him he will look at me and then close his eyes. When I stop singing,he will open his eyes.If I start to sing again, he closes his eyes again.When I play my flute for him, he also closes his eyes and you can see his body relax. He almost looks like he has a smile on his face.If I stop playing,he will turn his head towards me and look at me.Like he is saying"why did you stop?"If I ask him if he is hungry,he gets all wide eyed and starts moving his head from side to side.When I put him into a warm bath, he relaxes his whole body and closes is eyes.When I take him outside to bask in the sun from his perch on my shoulder,he looks all around and follows the birds with his eyes. He will move his head in all directions and seems fascinated with the world around him.When he is tired of eating worms, he will give me a look like he is disgusted and rolls his eyes. He will refused to eat until I feed him crickets.When I am holding Puff and stroking him,he closes his eyes. When I stop, he opens his eyes as if to say"don't stop". When he is watching TV, he cocks his head and moves his eyes as he watches.Yes Puff has quite a interesting language. The more I am with him, the more I see and understand him. Puff has a new "dining room"

I bought a large plastic container to use as a separate dining area for Puff.When I hand feed him a cricket, he often misses it,because of his bad eye, and the cricket gets away. I have a hard time catching the crickets. There are too many places to hide in the tank.If they get away in the "dining room", they are easy to catch.No where to hide. I put Puff in the "dining room" and gave him 2 crickets to start with. I had to herd them right in front of his good eye so he could see them and grab them. It took a little time but mission accomplished!As long as I herded the crickets in front of him, he could catch them. He only missed once. He caught and ate 5 crickets.After his dinner,I put him back into his house and he climbed up on his log and basked. I moved the new log off of the top of the hide so there would be more room for Puff to get to his water dish.I put the log where the old water dish used to be. Puff climbed up on it and was checking it out in it's new place. He did climb on it when it was on top of the hide, but with the water dish up there, it seemed too crowded for both. This works better and Puff seems to like it this way. He went to sleep on his perch and I turned out the lights for the night, I am so glad Puff ate today. Puff Has gone on a hunger strike again

Puff is up early these days and is active throughout the day.When he is not basking,he is exploring his house. Yesterday, He pooped in the dirt!It was easy to just scoop it out and throw it away. Nothing to wash and disinfect. I put a bigger water dish in for him. I also put it up on top of the left side hide,next to the other basking log. This way he won't get dirt in the water. I have been thinking of putting a water fall in the dish, but that will have to wait until some time in the future. I could just put an air stone in it to keep the water moving. Maybe Puff would drink more if the water were moving.I have air stones, but I have to buy a small air pump. Maybe next month, I can Budget for that.Puff still has not eaten in several days. I did go to the pet store today and got crickets and super worms. By the time I got home, Puff was already asleep in the hide.I hope he eats tomorrow.I worry when he doesn't eat for days like this.I tried feeding him some sweet red pepper but he declined. I have got to find other things that he will be interested in. He needs other salad items in his diet. So far, peas are the only green I have gotten him to eat more than once or twice.He seems to really like them but he does get tired of eating them all the time.I will see what I can find at the grocery tomorrow. Puff has gone to bed

Puff was awake at 7:15am this morning, before the lights were on. He has been very active for several days now. He climbed up on his basking log and then down and into each hide.Yesterday he was trying to soak in his water dish. It was too small for that.It looked so funny as his head,tail and all 4 legs hung out over the dish. I decided to give him a bath today. I filled his bath tub with warm water and gently slipped him into it. He relaxed right away and closed his eyes. He was enjoying it and then I noticed that he was drinking the water. This is the first time I have ever seen him drink water. I am sure he must have drank water before but I have never seen him do it. He drank for almost a minute. When the water started to cool off, I removed him and dried him with a towel. I held him and stroked him for a while. I sang to him and he closed his eyes. When I stopped singing,he opened his eyes and he yawned. He looks so cute when he yawns!I put him back in the tank and he climbed back up on his perch. I fed him and he ate 1 cricket,3 worms and 5 peas. I then left him alone to bask.I just checked on him and he has gone into the hide and he is now asleep.I will turn out the lights for the night and say good night to my beautiful Puff.I just love this little Dragon! Early to rise,early to bed

Puff has been waking early. He wakes up at about7:30 or 8:00am, before I have even turned on the lights.He also goes to sleep early.Yesterday he went to sleep at 4:30pm and tonight he went to sleep at 5:00pm. He went to sleep on top of the hide with his right hind leg hanging over the side.I repositioned him so he would not fall off. He opened his eyes for a moment but closed them and went back to sleep again.He ate 4 worms today.He refused to eat any Peas.I have to find some other greens that he will eat.It is hard to find flowers this time of the year,at least the kind he would eat.When I checked on him after I went to pay some bills, I found him sitting in his water dish. I guess I need to put the big water dish back in the tank as this one is too small for him to soak in.I think I will give him a bath in the morning.I have to go to the pet store to get some more crickets.I keep buying crickets only to have half of them die. I am keeping their container clean and they have food and water gel. I don't know why so many die? The worms don't die.I know they are not overcrowded as the container is fairly large and I only buy 25 crickets at a time.There are plenty of the empty TP rolls and egg carton pieces for them to hide in. Puff has been very active with the warm weather

Puff went to sleep on his basking log on Sunday night. He woke up very early Monday morning at 8:30am. He was all over his tank from one end to the other.He finally climbed back up on his perch. I took him out and held him for awhile.I sang to him and stroked him. He seemed to enjoy this. I must make a point to find a new song. He must be tired of hearing the same one all the time.He sat on my shoulder and listened to my flute. He seems to really enjoy the music.I decided to feed Puff early as he was so active. I thought he must be hungry. He ate 2 crickets, 5 worms and 2 peas.I have been trying to feed him from a dish as he has trouble with depth perception because of his bad eye. I have the same problem for a different reason,but I know it is hard to know how close or far away things are.I think that is why he misses the food and drops it. I have to still hand feed the crickets or they will get away but he is getting pretty good at getting the worms off the dish.I have to hold the dish right up to his mouth.Both Sunday and Monday he grabbed 2 worms at once and chewed then up and swallowed them. He seemed quite proud of him self at accomplishing this. Some times he will try to get the worm or cricket and miss several times. He then becomes frustrated and refuses to finish eating. When this happens, I wait a while and try again. He then will eat if I hand feed him.I let Puff Bask for about an hour and then I gave him a bath which he really enjoyed.He then climbed back up on his log to Bask. I was talking to him, telling him how Magnificent he was and that he was the most beautiful Dragon in the world. He sat on his perch, looking at me and cocking his head and then he opened his mouth. He was probably getting a little warm from basking, but it looked like he was smiling. I wish I had a camera as this would have made a real cute picture.I just love this little Dragon! A few words from Puff on the new year

Hi, Puff The golden Dragon here! I know I have been sleeping a lot lately,but I have been resting up for my Spring and Summer antics.I so love the spring and summer. I love basking in the sun.It takes sleeping most of the winter to recover from spring and summer. I expend much more energy in those warm months. At least I don't have to chase my food as my mom does a super job of hand feeding me. It is so much easier that way. Sometimes I miss and drop the cricket because of my bad eye.My mom scurries to catch it for me.She is very patient with me. I love my mom. I love when she sings to me although, I really wish she would learn a new song. She sings "Puff The Magic Dragon". It is a nice song but there must be others that she can sing to me?I also love when she plays her flute for me. The music is very soothing.I know I slept through the new year celebration but I was so tired. When I did wake up, my mom wished me a happy new year. I know I will be very happy! I have a wonderful mom to take good care of me and plenty of food,and singing and music. She also keeps my glass house very clean. And most of all, she loves me. She tells me that she loves me all the time.She strokes my head and back and it feels so good. I hope that all Dragons have wonderful moms' like I have.I love to sit on her shoulder. I love it when she takes me out side when the weather is warm enough to bask in the sun.I think she enjoys that as much as I do.Well I am getting sleepy,yawn. My mom fed me 2 crickets and 3 worms and 5 peas tonight. It is time for my after dinner nap! Puff woke up to day

Puff woke up this morning at about 10:30am and I wished him a Happy New Year. I told him I missed him. I sang to him and he enjoyed it.He would close his eyes and listen and when I stopped singing,he would open his eyes.I stroked his head and back and he enjoyed that. I decided to try feeding him as I was not sure how long he would stay awake. He ate 2 crickets, 2 worms and 8 peas.He pretty much stayed just out side the hide, with his tail inside the hide.He stayed in the same position the entire day.I made home made Lasagna, and Carla and Leah came over for dinner. Puff was still awake when they arrived,so they could see him. He went into his hide at about 8:00pm and I turned out the lights for the night. I am so glad Puff was awake today.He is the most beautiful Dragon in the whole world and I love him dearly.Puff The Golden Dragon,to be continued......................

Puff slept through New Years day

Puff is still sleeping.He has awakened several times to change positions with in the hide. When I came home from Carla's house about 6:00pm, Puff had his nose sticking out of the hide, but his eyes were closed.I wonder if he will wake up soon? I miss him. Puff's hibernation continues.He is still sleeping in his hide.I keep checking on him and I have not caught him with his eyes open, but he has moved about 1 inch and his head is facing a different direction.It is New Year's Eve and neither Puff or I will be celebrating. Just a quiet night at home.I guess Puff will wake up some time next year.I hope the new year is a better year than the last one!Puff The Golden Bearded Dragon,to be continued..................

Puff woke up very late

Puff woke up at about 5:00pm and meandered out of his hide. He climbed up on his basking log.I decided to try feeding him.I was afraid he might go back to sleep and miss his dinner.He ate 2 worms, 1 cricket and 10 peas.I am having some friends over to my house for dinner tonight. I am so glad he was awake so my friend Leah, from California and my friend Carla could see him.Leah was amazed at how big Puff was. She thought he was so cute.We watched a movie called "Nim's Island" while we ate dinner. There was a bearded dragon named Fred in the movie. It was a really cute movie and we all enjoyed it.As soon as Leah and Carla left, Puff climbed down from his perch, went into his hide,and went to sleep.It was like Puff read my mind. He knew I wanted him to be awake when my friends arrived, so that Leah could meet him. He knew that when they left he could go back to sleep again. Puff and I have a very special connection with each other. I seem to know what he wants and he seems to know what I want.Puff is indeed,a very special Dragon. I am still wondering if Dragons dream?

Puff is still sleeping. He does move from time to time, but only about 2 to 3 inches. When I check on him,sometimes I catch him with his eyes open,but they don't stay open long.Back to sleep again. Puff is hibernating again

Puff has slept the entire day today. I checked on him through out the day and at one point,he did have his eyes open but soon closed them again.He is still in his hide and will probably stay there for the next several days.I hope spring comes early this year. Puff woke up and was hungry

Puff slept all day.I checked on him after I fed the dogs and he was awake. I decided to see if he was hungry enough to eat. I offered him the wax worm I got him for a special Christmas meal.He ate the 3 wax worms,2 super worms and 2 crickets. The last cricket, he ate half of and I did not think he was going to eat the other half, but at the last minute he opened his mouth and scarfed it down.I have a new basking log for Puff, but I have to prepare it first before I can put it in his tank. I want to make sure it is safe for him.After he ate his meal, he climbed down from his log and dug down into the hide and went to sleep for the night.I turned out the lights. I am so happy that Puff enjoyed his Christmas diner,even if it was a little late.Puff The Golden Bearded Dragon, to be continued............................
